Equinox has held the account for nine years and handled the media strategy for MTV's entertainment programmes, including Totally Jodie Marsh - Who'll Take Her Up The Aisle?, and Kerry Katona - Crazy In Love, as well as The Hills, Living On The Edge and the MTV Europe Music Awards.
The media review was announced last September, but was placed on hold over the Christmas period. The pitch process has been handled by the AAR and an official announcement is expected by the end of the week.
The reappointment comes ahead of an increase in marketing activity across the broadcaster’s 10 TV channels and website.
At the start of the process, Kerry Taylor, vice-president of marketing, creative and consumer press who led the review, said MTV UK was looking for agencies that can not only demonstrate "strategic excellence and innovation", but also a tangible understanding of both our audience and of music.
Equinox will continue to work with MTV UK's marketing team and report to Taylor. The Viacom-owned music broadcaster is also investing in its online and mobile properties. Advertising for the broadcaster is created in-house and not affected by the review.
MTV is in the process of making a raft of UK redundancies as part of Viacom's plans to slash 850 posts worldwide and save at least $200m (£137m) next year.
